The All Communities Online Service, the Service Provider and the Service Moderators are firmly committed to protecting personal privacy. The purpose of this privacy statement is to outline the information gathering and dissemination practices for ACT Communities Online, and to inform you about what you can do if you have further questions.

All Communities Online collects three types of information:

• Anonymous information
• Community Organisation Content
• Personal information.

All Communities Online also uses cookies.

The policy for handling each of these types of information is described in detail below.

Anonymous Information

When you browse or submit information to All Communities Online, the system automatically makes an anonymous record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

• Your server address;
• Top level domain name (eg: .com, .net, .gov, .au etc);
• Date and time of your visit;
• Which pages are accessed;
• The time spent on individual pages and the site overall; and
• Which files are downloaded.

Community Organisation Content

Community Organisations who register and maintain their information on All Communities Online and the Community Calendar are responsible for ensuring that all information about the Community Organisation and its events is up to date and accurate. Each Community Organisation is also responsible for ensuring, for the information they provide, that privacy and confidentiality are respected and that privacy laws are not broken.

Community Organisations should assume that, except for Anonymous Information and Personal Information described in this Privacy Statement, all information they submit to All Communities Online will be made generally available to the public when approved for release.

When Community Organisation Content is published on All Communities Online, it becomes generally available to the public. Internet search engines will index and make reference to this information. The information will be accessible to Internet users from all over the world, and could, contrary to the Terms of Use of this site, be copied and used by any of them. As is generally understood for information that is published on the Internet, the Service Providers and Service Moderators have no control over the use of any of this publicly available information and can make no guarantee against subsequent misuse of the information.

Personal Information

All Communities Online collects and holds information about the people who look after the Community Organisations content. These people are referred to as the "Admin Contact" on the Group Registration Page. This information is not published or made generally available on the Internet. The Service Provider and Service Moderators will take all reasonable measures to ensure that this personal information is only used for the purpose of managing content on All Communities Online and is protected against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure or other misuse.

Except for information provided as Community Organisation Content, or the "Admin Contact" details described above, we do not record your user identity or email address unless you choose to send us a message, either by email, using the Contact ACO form, or by any other means. In that event we will only use your email address or personal details for the purpose for which you provided it, and it will not be added to any mailing list unless you ask for this to be done. We will not use your email address for any other purpose, and will not disclose it to other persons or organisations without your consent.

How ACO uses Cookies

A cookie is a small file that is produced by an Internet site and stored on your computer. There are two different types of cookies; "persistent" or "session-based". Persistent cookies are stored on your computer until they expire, regardless of whether you browser is closed, computer shutdown etc. Session-based cookies are stored for that browsing session only and are destroyed when your browser is closed. All Communities Online uses session-based cookies to help manage the site features that require sessions. All Communities Online does not use persistent cookies.

If you do not wish to accept cookies, you can change your browser settings to block them. You will still be able to browse most All Communities Online content but you will not be able to register or maintain any Community Organisation content or submit forms such as that on the Contact ACO page.
